We here at Structnet use a software product of Mindjet.com called MindManager. It has a masters degree in creating and managing organizational charts & network diagrams etc.. Its ability to adjust and link tasks, subtask, manager & project data is outstanding. Its ability to reorganize your arrangement with little training & effort is key.

We use it to plan the product. That is to create a Product Breakdown Chart that is to be organized to reflect how Program is to be assembled, integrated & tested. This plan is next going to serve to generate the project schedule. We have found that when we produce a Product Breakdown Plan that is rich with images representing the assembly; all parties involved communicate better.
